Samir Kulkarni, PhD
Director and founder of Biocognate Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd.
Samir founded Biocognate in 2020 with a vision to establish a core science driven organization that enables acceleration of biosimilars development programs and achieve patient-benefit goals. Samir brings on board more than two decades of experience in developing Biosimilar product processes, analytics, and commercial packages. He has successfully played strategic roles in driving cross-integration of different functions involved in biosimilar product development, such as Research, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, and Commercial operations. Samir has been associated in senior leadership roles in both academia and the industry. In academic roles, he is presently working full-time as a professor at the prestigious Institute of Chemical Technology (Mumbai, India) and heads its DBT supported Biosciences Center. In previous roles, he has handled the responsibility as the Director for Innovation, Incubation and Linkages and as the Director of the National Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology with the University of Mumbai. In the industry he has played vital leadership roles in enabling successful launch of several Biosimilar products from reputed organizations such as Intas, Dr Reddy’s, and USV Ltd.
Prasad is a co-founder of Biocognate and brings more than 18 years of experience in scientific research both in India and US. At Biocognate, Prasad would be scientifically guiding the biosimilar product development research. He has extensive experience in biopharma industry working in the fields of biosimilars, drug discovery and gene-cell therapy research. His core strength is in cell line engineering, cell culture process development and cell-based assay development for biosimilar products. Prasad has been associated with several reputed biopharma companies in India, including Dr. Reddy’s, Intas, Syngene and Aurobindo. During his more than a decade and half tenure with these biopharma companies, held various leadership positions of increasing responsibilities. He was involved in the development of many high value biosimilar products at R&D and clinical stages, which includes products from both mammalian and microbial expression platforms.
